Doris E. “Pop” Wilson, 97, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois.  Born in Sumner, Illinois on September 22, 1915, she was the daughter of George Leslie Roberts and Vernice Irene (Piper) Roberts.  She was a graduate of Newton High School ~ Class of 1934.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, Oblong, Illinois; KJU Circle at the church and she also organized funeral dinners at the church for many years; Pop was very active in the church for many years.  She supported all the school activities that Gary and Cindy were involved in; Pop enjoyed league bowling for many years; she was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed gardening; spending time and visiting with her many friends, family and especially her grandsons.

On February 1, 1936, Pop married Lester G. “Slim” Wilson, who preceded her in death on October 26, 1992.  Also preceding her in death were  her parents; a grandson, Matthew Wilson; three brothers: Jack, Charles “Chick” and Irvin Roberts as well as an infant brother Carl J. Roberts; two sisters-in-law, Fannie Roberts and Fern Roberts and one brother-in-law, Norman Cunningham.

Pop is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Judy Wilson; a daugther and son-in-law, Cindy & Jerry Baker; three grandsons, Ted Wilson, Joe Wilson and Mike Wilson; a sister, Betty Cunningham; a sister-in-law, Juanita Roberts Lindsay and several nieces and nephews.

Phil Young will officiate the funeral service with burial to follow in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
